What is the difference between three lines of film?
There are three films we offer in the Autobahn line, our most requested one is the flagship Ceramic i3 film.
Ceramic i3 film is the ultimate layer of protection for your glass, the nano-particles in the film are carefully layered with ceramic, this proces provides superior optical clarity, 99% UV & IR reduction, and with the no-fault lifetime warranty included, anything that happens to the film will be replaced for free.
Black Ceramic is popular for it's 99% UV rejection, class-leading optical clarity and the ceramic particles in the film allow for no signal interferance which in return rejects heat & UV without a sweat. Scratch ressitance & no-fault warranty are the main factors of this film being applied to a large pool of our clients.
Black is not a ceramic film, however the molecules that are based on a high-resistant poymer ( plastic ) are very important to reduce glare by a substantial amount. These properties are 99% UV resistant as well, and the deep-dye technology ( colorant ) is embedded in the film, rather than being outside which gives it an upper hand when it comes to lower-priced films.
All these options are not equal to each other, and if you are looking for an affordable option, we would recommend Black. However, if you want the 100% ceramic, quality, protection, comfort, and safety we would recommend Ceramic i3
What type of warranty comes with window tint?
When it comes to window tint warranty, this question stands at the top of our clients list, and here's why:
Warranty is a big factor when investing in a car tint, especially if you are going for our flagship Ceramic i3 film, this is why we accommodate a wide variety of warranties for your ceramic or non-ceramic films.
If you are looking to get Autobahn Black, we offer a lifetime warranty, however if someting happens to the film like a scratch or an externally caused damage, we are not responsible for a free re-application. This warranty can last you for years, depending of the normal wear & tear of windows, this is why we always suggest i3.
Now if your taste is different, and you'd like to get ceramic but invest less than the cost of Autobahn i3, we do offer a lifetime no-fault warranty, this means if it gets scratched or destroyed in any way, we replace it free of charge.
Autobahn i3 ceramic film offers the same waranty as Autobahn Black Ceramic, however the difference in the materials provides a better safety, and a level of premium comfort for you, and your family. No matter what you pick, we got you covered.
What is the right package for me?
We understand that making the right choice for your vehicle is very important & the type of film you choose will depend on the quality, and the amount you are willing to invest in your car.
Our prime choice for most of our customers is Autobahn Black Ceramic, but recently we are seeing a shift towards Ceramic i3, the differences in film quality & the layered-ceramic properties are a safe choice for our customers. So, to answer your question, we would suggest either Autobahn Black Ceramic or Autobahn Ceramic i3, simply because both of these packages offer no-fault lifetime warranty, and in case of an accidental scratch or any other damage, we will always replace it for free. Now if you got an older car, and need some kind of of tint to protect you from the sun, and reduce glare, Autobahn Black should be your choice.
What is the legal requirement for tint level in Chicago?
Tint percentage may confuse you a bit, heck it sometimes confuses us too.
There are 5 levels of window tint percentage, 5% is the darkest, and 60% is almost completely tint-free. The legal limit in the state of Illinois is 35%, officers may test your tint with a special instrument, and if it exceeds the legal limit you may get fined or asked to remove your tint permanetnly. This information allows you to understand why we would opt-in for 30% or even 25%.
Keep in mind that if you have a multi-purpose vehicle, the legal limit is 50%, but a legal variance of 5% is allowed, the fine for crossing that legal variance can range from $50 - $500.
But, don't sweat! We will always tell you everything about legal limits, and we even have a nice presentation glass that allows you to see how tint percentages impact your windows.
What if I want to tint my windshield?
If you are like us, and some cars headlights are probing your brain looking for a seasure, we got you. Windshield tinting is somewhat legal in Illinois, but a special kind of tint needs to be applied to insure that the reflectivity of light is reduced, however we cannot apply more than 6" from the top of your windshield.
So the answer is YES, you can tint your windshield but with precision & care. The process includes applying special kind of laminate film to your car's windshield, this reduces the amount of glare & light entering the windshield glass. You can request this special window tint to either reduce glare, get more privacy, reduce the amount of harmful UV rays entering your vehicle or if you just want your vehicle to be unique and cool.
